ビジネス会議で、時々耳にする名詞。
ー
初めて接しても、スペルは思い付きやすい。
中級学習者なら、即座に浮かぶはず。
だが、そこから意味は推測しがたい。
では、文脈から分かるかと言えば、
その時々の状況と立場に左右される。
内情に精通した話題ならば、推測が利く。
ー
◆ LDOCE6（ロングマン）の指標では、
“upshot” は重要度・頻出度ともランク外。
ー
・ 重要度 ：9000語圏外
・ 書き言葉の頻出度：3000語圏外
・ 話し言葉の頻出度：3000語圏外
したがって、英単語全体から見れば、
大したものではないと考えられる。
それでも、会議やニュースには出てくる。

◆ 字面同様、”upshot” の意味はとにかく単純。

四の五の言わずに覚えてしまう方が早い。
